Why can't I hear anyone? Why can't anyone hear me?

 I can’t hear another participant.

Before joining a live interview, we recommend that you test your audio and video settings. Simply click "Test Audio/Video" and follow the prompts.                                                     
                                         



Check your speakers (Windows)

Follow these steps to make sure that the volume on your computer is turned up and the speakers are working correctly. 
1. Right-click the sound icon on the right of your taskbar on your desktop and click “Open Sound Settings."





2. Check to make sure the correct speaker device is selected and move the volume bar from left to right. If it is working correctly, you should hear a sound. If you don't hear a sound, click "Troubleshoot" and follow the prompts. 



If you have multiple speakers, try switching to a different one and follow the steps outlined above.

Follow these steps to make sure that the volume on your computer is turned up and the speakers are working correctly.

      1. Double click on the "
System Preferences" icon on the bottom of your screen, and select "Sound" from the menu that appears.






      2. Select "Output" on the sound menu. Slide the volume bar from left to right.  



If you have multiple speakers, try switching to a different one and follow the steps outlined above.

Check your microphone (Windows)

1. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar on your desktop and click “Open Sound Settings” to test your input device (or microphone)

  



2. Scroll until you see the section labeled "Input" and check to make sure the correct microphone is selected. If your device is working correctly and you speak out loud, you'll see the bar underneath "Test your microphone" change colors. If you don't see that, click "Troubleshoot" and follow the prompts.

Check your microphone (Mac)

Follow these steps to make sure that the microphone on your computer is set up correctly

      1. Double click on the "System Preferences" icon on the bottom of your screen, and select "Sound" from the menu that appears.





2. Select "Input" on the Sound menu. Make sure that your "Input Volume" control is turned up (to the right). When you speak, you should see the "Input Level" bars flash; this indicates that your microphone is detecting sound. You can now refresh the interview page; other participants should be able to hear you.
